Dreaming

Pronoun Buttons

Rainbow buttons litter the bedroom floor

I sit across from a reflection

It shudders, breathes shallow //

The eyes float up and down

Lips rotate in whirling circles

Ears expand and flap

and jaw clenches and unclenches

I stack the pronouns

We stack the pronouns

We cannot be allowed //

they/them/theirs

We are "singular" they say

To trick us, gaslight

We are many

We are They

We are a collection of buttons

Rainbow, Glitter buttons

Waiting to hear //

THEY
